The Better Half is a reenactment of the public spaces that have been divided for men and women in Iran after the Islamic revolution. The main entrance to the exhibition is closed and transferred to two entrances. The audience is allowed to enter only one of the two parts of the space and would be able to see only half of the screen while hearing the whole sound of the work. Categorizing the audience and restricting their access to part of the exhibition plays with the idea of accessibility and privileges that some of us are born with and some of us restricted from all our lives. The black curtain that I’ve used to divide the space is the material that usually has been used in mosques for separating men and women parts.
